When a pet has an accident, the urine dries into microscopic salt crystals deep in the carpet fibers and padding. Most spray bottles from the grocery store just put a layer of soap on top. This might hide the smell for a day, but the crystals are still there-waiting for humidity to active them again.

If the urine has soaked into the subfloor or tack strips, it can be very difficult to remove 100% of the odor without pulling up the carpet (restoration). We can remove the vast majority of organic stains. However, urine can sometimes permanently dye or bleach carpet fibers (especially wool) if it sits too long. We can sanitize and remove the odor, but if the fiber itself is damaged, the discoloration might be permanent. We will inspect it and let you know what to expect before we start.
