Proper furniture placement after cleaning is crucial for maintaining your carpet's appearance and preventing damage.

Best Practice:

Wait 24-48 hours before replacing furniture to ensure carpets are completely dry. This prevents:

  • Rust stains from metal furniture legs
  • Wood stain transfer from furniture feet
  • Compression marks in damp carpet fibers
  • Mold or mildew growth under furniture

If You Must Replace Furniture Sooner:

  • Use protective pads - We've provided foam blocks or aluminum tabs
  • Plastic furniture - Safe to place immediately
  • Wooden furniture - Must use protective barriers
  • Metal furniture - Must use protective barriers to prevent rust

Drying Time Considerations

Several factors affect how quickly your carpets dry:

Factors That Speed Drying:

  • Running AC or heat
  • Using ceiling fans
  • Opening windows (if not humid)
  • Running dehumidifier

Factors That Slow Drying:

  • High humidity
  • Thick carpet padding
  • Heavy soil (required more water)
  • Poor ventilation
Pro Tip: Turn on your HVAC fan to "ON" instead of "AUTO" for the first 24 hours to circulate air continuously and speed drying.

Walking on Freshly Cleaned Carpets

While carpets are safe to walk on immediately, following these guidelines will keep them cleaner longer:

DO:

  • Walk with clean, dry feet
  • Wear clean socks or slippers
  • Place towels at entry points
  • Remove shoes at the door
  • Be careful on hard surfaces (may be slippery)

DON'T:

  • Walk with dirty shoes
  • Go barefoot from outside
  • Let pets with dirty paws on carpet
  • Drag heavy items across damp carpet
  • Run or play roughly while damp

Important Reminders

Wicking: Sometimes stains may reappear as carpet dries. This is called "wicking" - stains rising from the backing. Call us if this happens - we'll return to treat it at no charge within 30 days.
Pet Areas: Pet-treated areas may smell slightly stronger as they dry - this is the treatment working! The odor will dissipate completely once dry.
Security: Keep windows locked if opening them for ventilation. Run AC instead if you're leaving home.
